Top 10 Excuses for Avoiding Psychotherapy

Dec 11, 2014 Source:PsychCentral

Over the years I have heard all the main excuses people give for resisting psychotherapy. Here is my top 10 list. 1) If I go into therapy it means I’m a loser and I’m weak and can’t stand on your own feet. It’s better to work on myself without a crutch so that I keep strong.  2) If I go into therapy I’ll become dependent on, maybe even addicted to, my therapist. And then the therapist will take advantage of my dependency on him and keep me dependent for the rest of my life, sucking up my life’s savings.
